ZyDoc.com Corporation, Inc.,
believes the final standards promulgated under the Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) represent sound business
practice-that these standards will streamline health care
administration while ensuring the privacy, confidentiality and
security of our customers' data. We are committed to helping our
customers comply with all applicable HIPAA standards within the
timeframes established by law.
You may
have seen recent announcements by Blue
Cross and Blue Shield who will now accept HIPAA Non-Compliant
Provider Claims. They
are doing this under Contingency Plans.
You may be wondering, what is the impact of this new
legislation on my hospital, on my practice?
The U.S.
Congress enacted HIPAA with extensive input from the health industry
regarding the importance of EDI for reducing the administrative
costs and complexity of health care and health benefits delivery.
ZyDoc.com Corporation has followed the work of the Accredited
Standards Committee's X12N Insurance Subcommittee (ASC X12N), the
Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDi), and the National
Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), three organizations
active in proposing standards that are the basis of those adopted
under HIPAA.
ZyDoc.com
has a 10-year operating history and more than five years experience
working extensively with the ASC X12N standards in electronic
claims, electronic remittance, eligibility inquiry and information
and services review. We are monitoring ongoing developments in the
various HIPAA standards and are actively working to facilitate our
end users' ability to comply with the final standards.
We diligently apply high security encryption technology to
enhance the private communication of patient medical information.
Additionally, with the recent implementation of the ZyDoc
Data Center, we have increased the security level across our
technology infrastructure.
ZyDoc.com
Corporation currently uses many applicable national standards for
electronic data interchange (EDI). As you may know, the HIPAA-regulated
transactions will no longer permit multiple standards and only the
ASC X12N standard transaction will be acceptable. This change will
be implemented over the next two years for the HIPAA transaction
regulations already finalized. As additional regulations become law, ZyDoc will work within
the allotted period to ensure compliance.
Customers will regularly need to upgrade their ZipIt software
as new versions are released. ZyDoc
provides ZipIt upgrades at no charge to all customers with accounts
in good standing.
At
ZyDoc.com Corporation, we have the continuing goal of increasing
uniformity, efficiency, and speed of electronic medical information
interchange within the national standards for safeguarding the
privacy and security of our clients' information. HIPAA begins a new
era of cooperation among all generators and users of electronic
medical information. We know that, like every healthcare
practitioner, you want to satisfy impending HIPAA deadlines.
Please
contact our office if you have any questions or concerns regarding
ZyDoc and HIPAA compliance.
